Eco-Friendly Processless Printing Plates For Sustainable Newspaper Printing
Description
- The offset printing industry is undergoing a notable transition towards the adoption of Processless CTP (Computer-to-Plate) plates, driven by the increasing demand for eco-friendly and sustainable printing practices. These plates present a viable alternative to traditional CTP plates, which require chemical processing and have a detrimental environmental impact.
- Processless CTP plates are constructed using an aluminum base coated with a photosensitive material. When exposed to UV light, whether through a film negative or a digital file, a chemical reaction occurs within the photosensitive layer. This reaction renders the exposed areas of the plate receptive to ink, while keeping the unexposed areas hydrophilic, repelling ink.
- During the printing process, ink is directly applied to the plate, which is mounted onto the printing press. The ink adheres to the exposed areas of the plate, while the non-image areas remain ink-free. This eliminates the need for chemical processing, making Processless CTP plates a sustainable option that significantly reduces the environmental impact of the printing process.
